Our client's existing room was a traditional dark room due to the old design. Our client wished for more natural light to be allowed to diffuse into the interior.
After discussions between our structural engineer, client, local authorities and architect, the double glazed roof was designed with high energy ratings to comply with current building regulations.
The interior of the property had to be fully protected from the elements while the work was carried out by our tradesmen. The traditional slate roof was stripped back to reveal the timber rafters beneath. The rafters were then cut to accommodate the new roof. Our lead workers sealed the roof and re-slated to complete the roof.
By mixing a traditional structure with modern materials the property is now alive with natural light whilst still complying with strict energy retention calculations.
