R Mitchell (Glass) Ltd
came up trumps once again in 2007 during our Investor in People
Assessment. This is a national standard which sets a level of good
practice for improving an organization’s performance through its people,
particularly in the area of staff development. A reassessment must be
carried out every three years in order to retain IIP recognition.
The independent
assessor, Julienne Dickey, “found the company to be an excellent example
of the use of Investors in People as a framework for driving forward
improvements”. During her interviews with over 50% of the staff, she
heard comments such as “an excellent company to work for” and “the
organisation is managed very well”. All staff are delighted with the
award.
Since achieving
Investor in People Standard in 2004, Mitchells have enjoyed 60% growth,
a tribute to the sustained effort and
determination of our team, 20% of which have had more than twenty years
with the firm. As a long established company, a lot of old habits
and ideas have had to change to enable us to be competitive in the 21st
Century marketplace. This has involved formalising procedures and putting
into place systems to become more efficient. Training programmes and
improved communications have enabled everyone to know how their
contribution fits into the business. The whole company is focused on
the same goals and this has led to even better levels of customer
satisfaction. We are very proud of this achievement and will continue to
review and improve what we are doing.
