A Full House of 40 Extreme UPVC Windows in Yarrow, Scottish Borders
A huge window project undertaken by the Mitchell Glass team.
Seeking an escape from city life in Edinburgh, this family moved to the scenic area of Yarrow, near Selkirk, and were drawn to a period property bursting with character.
They loved the property but they had a clear upgrade in mind: to sympathetically modernise the home on an environmentally friendly basis, while preserving its charm. Enter Mitchell Glass and our Extreme UPVC windows.
The renovation journey was not without challenges. Updating the external aesthetics, particularly replacing the old sash and case windows, required solutions that were not only visually appealing but also energy-efficient, robust, and secure – all qualities that are essential for life in a remote location, such as Yarrow.
Sales advisor Jamie Hall from Mitchells Glass provided expert guidance, visiting the Yarrow property twice to outline the benefits of the proposed upgrades, as well as having the clients at the showroom in Galashiels to experience the quality of the windows and doors and the long standing legacy of the company.
His clear expertise and helpful advice paid off, culminating in the installation of 40 Extreme UPVC windows, including elegant bay windows and French doors. The result is a harmonious blend of period character and modern comfort, perfectly suited to country living.
The homeowner shared his satisfaction of the project: “I’m very happy to confirm my complete satisfaction with the quality of double-glazing undertaken at my home in the Yarrow Valley. It was complicated, with over twenty separate windows in an old fashioned style, a living room with two wide floor-to-ceiling bow windows and a conservatory with floor-to-ceiling windows and a double door. The work was completed efficiently, my partner and I are very pleased with the look and our heating bills are considerably less than when the house had only single-glazing. Your firm deserves to win a prize and I hope that you do so.”
This project of Extreme UPVC windows in the Scottish Borders went on to receive high praise at the Conservatory Outlet Awards, where it was Highly Commended for outstanding co-operation and teamwork between Jamie in Sales and the Mitchell Glass installation team.
It’s a testament to what can be achieved through genuine collaboration and expert advice – values that sit at the heart of every Mitchell Glass project.
