2024 Design Trends To Inspire A New Year Home Makeover

When entering a new year, we so often have that extra bit of zest and ambition and you want it to sustain and not lose it, especially so if the arrival of 2024 has given you a hunger to renew your home.

January is a favourite month for updating interiors and why not – it really can reignite a spark for home living this year and beyond!

To motivate you into getting a makeover off the ground and inspire your thoughts, Mitchell Glass would like to offer you insight into this year’s forecasted design trends.

Sweet Embrace™ – Dulux Colour of the Year

2023 spawned one of the highest-grossing films in recent times, the Barbie movie, and it’s a shade of pink that’s earned the title of Dulux Colour of the Year 2024 – Sweet Embrace™.

A less dazzling pink than that worn by Margot Robbie, Sweet Embrace™ is much softer and has discernible hints of blue and grey. Dulux have clarified their choice, saying it was selected as it evokes a sense of comfort and refinement, a perceived antidote to an ever hectic world.

Sufficiently toned down to colour drench a room in it, Sweet Embrace™ can also be kept to a single accent wall or dot it around a space through rugs, vases and scatter cushions.

Retro Interiors

With a wide held desire for a return to the simpler times of the 1970’s, retro-look interiors are making a strong comeback in 2024.

Pull off the look by having carpets and wall coverings fitted and applied that adorn geometric patterns, invest in a natural wood bureau and table, and find vintage wall tiles for the sitting room to recollect memories of the days of old.

Mitchell’s flush casement windows, better known as Envisage, fit into the retro theme as their design is modelled on the traditional glazed timber windows of an early, cherished era.

Curvy Mirrors

We can’t recall a time when mirrors have ever become unfashionable, so they’re a steadfast trend and 2024 is the year when curvy mirrors will have their moment in the spotlight.

Put a statement curved mirror up on the wall in your lounge, hallway or bathroom that eyes will be drawn to and spark intrigue, rarely the case with normal square or rectangular-shaped mirrors.

It’s no exaggeration to say that you can find mirrors in just about any size, shape or material for displaying in clusters or as solo centrepieces.
