Accessories And Furniture For Your Conservatory

One of the most exciting aspects of buying a conservatory is getting the opportunity to accessorise and furnish the space once the installation has been completed.

Like any room in the house, the accessories and furniture you choose will define the conservatory’s personality and overall feel, so they should be chosen very carefully. Conservatories are all-year round spaces and you want to love every second you spend inside them. The environment you establish is integral to this.

New and existing conservatory owners will be left with plenty food for thought after reading about our suggested accessories and furniture for these most spectacular structures.

Vintage lighting

Conservatories have existed for several generations and in a nod to their long existence you could install vintage lighting.

Table lamps, floor lamps, pendants, spotlights etc. can all be found in that familiar soft finish of antique brass and copper to give any conservatory interior an aged but timeless, modern effect.

The light they emit will also make the conservatory atmospheric at night; just what you want when entertaining guests after dark.

Bring the outside inside

‘Greenery’ was named as Pantone’s Color of the Year in 2017, succeeded by ‘Ultra Violet’ this year, but you can still create an outdoorsy feel by bringing some of the outdoors, indoors.

We’re talking about things like adding a few pot plants here and there and putting a tall palm in one of the corners to inject a little splash of green.

Subtle uses of green in your choice of soft furnishings will also turn your conservatory into the ultimate indoor-outdoor setting.

Bi-folding doors

There’s no easier way of uniting the inside of a conservatory with the outside than by integrating bi-folding doors into the design and opening them fully.

They’re growing in popularity ahead of patio doors and French doors as they can provide a very sizeable opening in comparison, stretching up to 7 or 8 panes in length if there’s sufficient space to accommodate them.

Just a simple push causes the individual door leafs to fold and glide along the running track until they completely concertina to leave a vast gap between internal and external environments.

Arrangements can be made for a conservatory to be constructed at your house by Mitchell Glass, Scotland’s favourite home improvement specialists.
