Fuel Poverty Continues To Grow In Scotland

The issue of fuel poverty is becoming a growing problem for thousands of Scottish households. It is estimated that around 800,000 Scottish homes found themselves slipping into fuel poverty last year and that figure is expected to rise further as the cost of energy continues to rise. Most startling is that around 38 per cent of those living in fuel poverty are classed as being middle class or wealthy.A household is considered to be living in fuel poverty when it spends more than 10 per cent of its monthly income on energy. At the current rate it is predicted that by 2015 the Scottish middle classes will be spending an average of 12 per cent of their monthly wage on bills.
To try prevent the figures from worsening, the Scottish government is doing its best to make more of an investment into renewable energy such as wind power, but many critics believe that this will only add to the problem, rather than solve it. So what do homeowners turn to for help?

Well if they have not already, they need to get timber windows in Scotland, timber windows in Hawick or aluminium windows in Livingston installed sooner rather than later!
The insulation properties of timber and aluminium make them a perfect choice of material for window frames as virtually nothing can get through them and that is particularly welcome in the climate regularly experienced north of the border. Heat loss from the home will be eliminated and draughts will be unable to pass their way through the thick frames and energy efficient glass.
The installation of new windows will then enable you to use your heating less frequently, without any noticeably negative effect felt as far as the temperature of your home is concerned. This will then result in heating bills lowering substantially which means that energy will be less of an outgoing than it once was. It will also make for a more environmentally-friendly home as carbon emissions will be lowered due to a reduction in the burning of damaging fossil fuels.
When picking your new windows choose your finish carefully as very often it can have a huge impact on the appearance of a property. A wise choice of finish will give it a huge lift in aesthetic terms.
So to avoid becoming the next victim of dreaded fuel poverty you only need to look towards windows as a solution.
