Landmark Anniversary For Mitchell Glass

We are delighted to inform you that Mitchell Glass celebrates its 140th anniversary this month – an extraordinary landmark that very few home improvement companies in the world can boast!

Now run by the Roden family, Peter, Susan and son Lewis who was appointed a Director on 1st February 2015 and is a 4th generation family member, we have built our reputation on providing high quality products and exceptional customer service. Our extensive product range includes, Conservatories, Orangeries, Sunrooms and Conversions, as well as, Double and Triple Glazing Windows & Doors in aluminium, timber and coloured PVC. To go back to the very beginning, it was on 10th April 1875, that Robert Mitchell established his glass merchant and glazing business in the borders town of Hawick as there were a lot of mills in the area which required rooflight glazing. Mitchell Glass remained in Hawick till the 1990s. He also opened a shop in Galashiels in the 1950s which is where we are based today. He was determined that his customers’ needs would be paramount, even taking an advertisement in the local newspaper pledging “strict attention to orders” and it’s this level of customer service that has enabled us to survive several recessions. From the start the emphasis was on high quality products, superior craftsmanship and above all, satisfying customer needs. This philosophy has been carried forward over the years and the traditional values of honesty and sincerity are why customers continue to choose Mitchell Glass to carry out their home improvement projects.
