The Challenge
The client wanted to create a quiet, usable space to enjoy views of the garden and loch in all seasons. The site’s elevated position and exposed conditions called for high-performance aluminium glazing that could withstand the elements while blending beautifully with the traditional stone building.
The architectural brief required wide openings, flush thresholds, slim sightlines and energy efficiency—all without compromising on aesthetics.

The Solution
Mitchell Glass supplied and installed a bespoke set of Sunflex aluminium glazing products, chosen for their modern look, thermal performance, and reliability. Key products included:
- Sunflex SVG30 Aluminium Sliding Doors
Clean, flush-stacking panels opening onto a terrace. Minimal frames maximise views and natural light. - Aluminium Fixed Frame Picture Windows
Framed to capture panoramic views and light from all angles. - Aluminium Top-Hung Windows
Discreet ventilation and sleek, functional design.
All products were powder-coated in Anthracite Grey to complement the steel structure and zinc cladding. The final installation achieved an average U-value of 1.4W/m²K, with glazing available down to 0.8W/m²K for clients wanting maximum thermal performance.

The Result
This project is a showcase of modern aluminium glazing in Scotland, combining crisp detailing, natural materials and architectural flair. The pavilion serves as both a peaceful escape and a bold design statement.
The design has been widely recognised, winning the Dundee Institute of Architects Supreme Award 2022 and featuring in leading publications such as:
- Grand Designs Magazine
- ArchDaily
- Dezeen
- Architecture Today
